About This Course

English for Science and Technology (EST): Developing the Writing Skill is designed to equip learners in scientific and technological fields with the ability to write clear, concise, and coherent English. The course trains students to express complex ideas with precision, using appropriate linguistic structures and technical vocabulary relevant to their disciplines.

The programme progresses through three integrated stages: Tool Acquisition, Summary Writing, and Composition. Initially, learners develop grammatical precision through the use of subordinate and relative clauses, parallel structures, and the correction of sentence problems. They then advance to summary writing. The final stage focuses on composition, guiding students to craft coherent, unified paragraphs in different genres. Throughout the course, continuous feedback refines clarity, coherence, and style, enabling learners to produce accurate and professional written English for scientific and technological contexts.

By the end of the course, learners will have developed the competence and confidence to create technically accurate, well-structured, and persuasive writing suited to academic and professional environments.
